2 Chronicles 20 (MSG)
Some reports we receive aren’t always the best – King Jehoshaphat received one that told him of an enemy coming for a fight.
I don’t know what you’re up against this Friday morning but may I suggest doing what Jehoshaphat did that day:
1. He prayed: “Shaken, Jehoshaphat prayed. He went to God for help”
2. He ordered a nationwide fast to seek God’s help: “The country of Judah united in seeking God’s help”
3. He stated who God is: “Are you not God in heaven above and ruler of all kingdoms below? You hold all the power in your fists”
4. He remembered what God did for them: “And didn’t you make the natives of this land leave as you brought your people of Israel in, turning it over to them permanently?”
5. He named the problem: “And now it’s happened: men from Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir have shown up”
Then a man – Jahziel – who was moved by the spirit stood up and said what God was going to do for them. They believed and went and marched out – with people singing worship songs ahead of them. God did what he said he would do – and so much more.
I encourage you – if your facing bad reports or troubles where it seems impossible – look at what Jehoshaphat did: pray, fast, state boldly who God is, remember what God has done for you in the past, name the problem – then listen and do and praise.
Our God – the only living God – will deliver you.
Dear Father –
I pray for the folks who read this and for myself, that together, we do as Jehoshaphat did. I pray that you send a Jahziel into our lives – to speak the word of truth to us. May we, with open ears listen and then do. In you we find victory and so much more.
In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen
